The annual North Beach, Maryland Polar Bear Plunge was held New Year’s Day. Calvert County residents and other locals rang in the New Year with a dip into the Chesapeake Bay. With the recent warm weather, the water was a balmy 46 degrees. The 345 participants and numerous spectators gathered at 1PM on January 1st, 2016 at the North Beach Boardwalk. The funds raised by the event were donated to Calvert Meals on Wheel, Inc.  This organization is based in Prince Frederick and is a non-profit, volunteer organization.

Exit by the Bay Realty cosponsored the polar bear plunge this year and continues to support the local communities. Being involved in the local community is a priority for EXIT By the Bay and its agents. Co-owner, Mary Eldridge, attended the event and saw many former clients of hers participating in the festivities.

This year, North Beach was named the number one Christmas town in the State of Maryland.  The town has an enormous Christmas tree on the boardwalk and Christmas lights adorning the rails of the boardwalk. North Beach and its neighbor, Chesapeake Beach, both decorate for Christmas and have a wonderful small town appeal. Events like these make the Southern Maryland and Anne Arundel county areas a welcoming place to move.
